I don't care if you've been doing business for 50 years on 5 minutes, there are several ways to get customers right now no matter what you've done, or who you sell it to.

Now, before we even get started, obviously several factors are going to impact just how many customers you can get based on what you have done to promote yourself do far.

For example, having a well-designed website along with all of your company's information will surely help.

However, I know of several companies that have been doing business for years without any kind of internet presence, although, they are obviously at a severe disadvantage.

Nevertheless, you came here because you feel you're ready to learn the top 5 ways to get customers now, so I will teach you as planned.

1) Make the Damn Call!

Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't.

-Jerry Rice

From the beginning of time, people who are willing to do what others aren't, enjoy greater success and rewards.

I'll never forget attending my first business expo when I started my first business.

Besides a list of prospects, I wanted to come away with the knowledge of what every leading company was using to get more customers. While many of them talked about email marketing, or billboards, EVERY company representative told me they used sales calls to get more customers.

In fact, according to Salesforce.com, telephone based pitch drove a 8.2% response rate versus email marketing which drove a .03% response rate.

The bottom line is when you physically pick up the phone and call somebody, they are forced to listen to your message.

Now, whether they buy or not is a function of how strong your message is as much as how strong you are as a salesperson.

2) Soliciting Done the Right Way

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

-Carl Jung

If you're reading this, YOU are most likely the leading salesperson of your organization.

Because of this, you're job is to meet as many possible leads as possible, in the shortest amount of time available.

That means, if you aren't advertising, you ARE NOT going to get customers. At least, not as many as you probably need to grow.

So, why not hit the road and start getting in front of people to offer what you provide?

I bet you remember the old days when offices had huge signs that said, "No Soliciting."

Well, this was sort of like direct mail in the 90's. In other words, because so many companies used to do it and don't do it as much anymore, you have a tremendous opportunity to get customers that your competitors aren't using.

3) Email Done the Easy Way

Now I want to teach you how to do email marketing the free, and easy way.

First I have a couple questions:

  1. Do you already have a list of customers you have served with their email?
  2. Do you have any kind of list of prospects you'd like to have as a client, with their email?

If you answered "Yes" to either one of these questions, than you're ready to get started using email marketing to get more customers. Sip down to the headline "Let's Get Started with Email!"

If you answered "No," than let me teach you how to quickly build a list.

Building an email list is primarily done in one of 2 ways:

1) Organic Lead: People join themselves by vising your materials and entering their contact information (most eager and qualified lead)

2) Inorganic Lead: You manually sign people up (least qualified lead)

Now, what we're talking about today is Inorganic Email Lead generation, because we're talking about getting customers TODAY, and not waiting until next week or next month before your list builds itself.

So, what you want to do to start building your list is one or all of the following:

Easiest and Fastest Method:

Step 1: Create an excel sheet, and start collecting the contact information (Business name, owner name, phone number, address and email address), and putting it into the sheet.

Step 2: Now, go down to the section that says "Let's Get Started with Email Marketing."

Slightly Harder and Slower, But More Effective Method:

Step 1: Create an excel sheet, and start collecting the contact information (Business name, owner name, phone number, address and email address), and putting it into the sheet.

Step 2: Once you spend a few hours building your list, begin calling each company with the sales calling technique I mentioned above. Ensure you use your script, and don't take no for an answer!

Step 3: Once you've made your pitch, or not, and they are not going to make a purchase today, thank them for their time and tell them you will gladly sign them up for your free newsletter. This newsletter is how you're going to get them as a customer over the long-term.

Step 4: Now, go down to the section that says "Let's Get Started with Email Marketing."

Hardest and Slowest Method, But Most Effective:

Step 1: Create an excel sheet, and start collecting the contact information (Business name, owner name, phone number, address and email address), and putting it into the sheet.

Step 2: Once you spend a few hours building your list, begin calling each company with the sales calling technique I mentioned above. Do your best to get the lead decision-maker on the phone, and let him/her know you'd like to stop by today to propose them on your products/services.

Step 3: Once you've made your pitch, and they are not going to set up a meeting today, thank them for their time, and tell them you will gladly sign them up for your free newsletter. This newsletter is how you're going to get them as a customer over the long-term.

Step 4: Now, go down to the section that says "Let's Get Started with Email Marketing."

Let's Get Started with Email

Now that you have, or have had, a good list of emails of prospects who have given you permission to send them emails, you next want to sell them your products/services.

The idea here is simple: Every day people need products and services that they either have not thought to purchase, or just haven't had the time. When you can send these people a very compelling email with your message, all of those who are in the market for your products/services will naturally begin the process of examining you.

Firstly, you need a good email marketing program to use. How about a free one as well?

MailChimp.com is our favorite free marketing solution (we have no official affiliation with them). It provides great metrics, is easy to set up, and you can begin sending thousands of emails TODAY with it.

MailChimp allows you to simply and easily create email and import your list.

Now, the point of sending out these emails to these prospects is to SELL, so your entire email should be driven by ambition, as well as why the customer should buy.
